Due to our opposition having a League Cup preliminary match next Sunday our scheduled League fixture has been postponed and will be played sometime in January. We too are entered in the same competition but have avoided the preliminary round in the draw.
Due to the diminishing amount of light I have had to bring evening forward yet again. This Tuesday's training takes place at BSG between 5.45pm and 7pm. Also be aware that we will move evening training to St Mary's Sports Centre from Tuesday 3rd November when we will hold the session between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. For our planning purposes please indicate whether your son is interested and able to attend these sessions.
Finally, as usual, Derry Hill United closes for training the first week of each school break so no training, and indeed Sunday match, for the Flames on Saturday 24th October. We will return to training on Saturday 31st October when, fingers crossed, we also hope to formally open the Clubhouse. We would be delighted if you can stay to participate in this short ceremony and get the opportunity to explore your new facility. Players, parents and siblings welcome.
We are still working feverishly to complete all of our tasks to get the Clubhouse ready for use. We are also working desperately hard to keep our costs to a minimum. We still have some items of furniture and fittings that we would like to open with so if any of you have access to any of the following items we would very much appreciate them:
1. External A4 Notice Board (for posting refreshment menu outside the kitchen)
2. Small (3ft wide x 4ft tall?), wall mounted cabinet (for display of Club trophies)
3. Internal notice board (3ft wide x 4ft tall?) (for pinning Club
notices)
4. Gas/Water or Foam Fire Extinguisher (within test period)
Finally, great application, commitment and effort from the Flames today. I felt the performance and effort of the players deserved much more than a draw. I am proud of how well each of the players worked towards our season objectives of maintaining possession when on the ball and when without it denying the ball carrier the space to move or pass forward.
At times we played some great team football. I can't remember a match when we had so many shots on goal. Well done all.
